OFAC adds entities to SDN List; US persons blocked from transactions
The U.S. Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) has designated one or more persons on its Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List (SDN List). All property and interests in property subject to U.S. jurisdiction of these persons are blocked, and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with them. Shippers, freight forwarders, and exporters must screen all customers and counterparties against the updated SDN List before transacting.

What This Means for Shippers
Immediately screen all customers, suppliers, and counterparties against the updated SDN List before confirming or executing any shipments, payments, or commercial arrangements. Failure to conduct sanctions screening exposes your business to civil penalties up to $20 million per violation and criminal liability. Use a licensed screening tool to match all parties to the SDN List, other OFAC lists, and the Denied Parties List. Do not process any shipment, letter of credit, or payment instruction involving a designated entity without explicit OFAC authorization. /sanctions-screen
