# US Amends Aluminum Foil Anti-Dumping Duties on China

The U.S. Department of Commerce published an amended final determination on May 27, 2026, revising its anti-dumping duty order on certain aluminum foil from China. The amendment addresses the period of review (POR) running April 1, 2023, through March 31, 2024.

The U.S. Department of Commerce (Commerce) is amending the final results of the administrative review of the antidumping duty (AD) order on certain aluminum foil (aluminum foil) from the People's Republic of China (China) to correct a ministerial error.

Aluminum foil falls under HS Chapter 76 (aluminum articles). Anti-dumping orders require importers to post bonds or pay duties at the time of entry to protect U.S. revenue against goods found to be sold below fair value. A ministerial error correction can affect:

The Commerce Department's administrative reviews are annual opportunities to adjust anti-dumping duty rates based on actual pricing and cost data from the prior 12 months. When a ministerial error—such as a clerical mistake or calculation error—is identified, an amended final determination allows Commerce to set the record straight without reopening the substantive investigation.

Importers of Chinese aluminum foil should consult the Federal Register notice for specific duty-rate adjustments and any effective dates for amended cash-deposit requirements. Entries made during the POR may be eligible for refunds if duties were overpaid, or liable for additional duties if underpaid, depending on the direction of the correction.

What this means for shippers

If you import aluminum foil (HS 7607) from China, review the amended rates immediately to recalculate landed costs on any April 2023–March 2024 entries still in liquidation. Request a ruling from U.S. Customs and Border Protection if you need clarification on rate applicability to specific shipments. Update your cost models and supplier contracts to reflect the corrected duty baseline going forward. Check /us-china-tariff-lookup to confirm the current duty rate on your aluminum foil shipments.
