US CVD Review on Indian Aluminum Sheet: Correction Notice

The U.S. Department of Commerce issued a correction to its March 10, 2026 final countervailing duty (CVD) administrative review of common alloy aluminum sheet (CAAS) from India. The correction addresses an error in how a respondent company's name was listed in the final results table. This administrative update affects importers and producers of aluminum sheet subject to existing U.S. countervailing duties.

CVD Review Correction on Indian Aluminum Sheet

On April 24, 2026, the U.S. Department of Commerce published a correction notice in the Federal Register to its March 10, 2026 final results announcement for the 2023 countervailing duty administrative review of common alloy aluminum sheet (CAAS) from India.

According to Commerce, the original notice contained a clerical error: "This notice listed the respondent's name incorrectly in the table of the 'Final Results of Administrative Review' section." While the substantive findings of the CVD review remain unchanged, the corrected respondent name in the final results table ensures accurate identification of companies subject to the duty assessment.

Common alloy aluminum sheet—typically classified under HS Chapter 76—is a key input material for automotive, aerospace, beverage container, and appliance manufacturers. The CVD investigation and review process examines whether Indian producers received government subsidies that distort fair market pricing. Administrative reviews are conducted annually to reassess company-specific duty rates and ensure duties reflect current subsidy levels.

The correction does not alter the underlying CVD orders on Indian CAAS or the final duty rates announced in March 2026. However, importers and freight forwarders handling aluminum sheet from India should verify that shipment documentation matches the corrected respondent name(s) in Commerce's official table to ensure proper classification and duty assessment.

What this means for shippers

This correction underscores the importance of tracking CVD determinations by respondent company name and consolidating that data with your customs documentation. When estimating landed cost for aluminum sheet imports from India, verify the exporter's name against Commerce's corrected final results table to apply the appropriate duty rate. Changes to respondent identification can affect duty calculations and should be reflected in your customs invoices and landed-cost models.
