The U.S. Department of Commerce has issued final results of an expedited second sunset review on antidumping duties covering certain passenger vehicle and light truck tires imported from China. # US Extends Anti-Dumping Duties on Chinese Passenger Tires

On May 4, 2026, the U.S. Department of Commerce issued final results of an expedited second sunset review of the antidumping duty (AD) order on certain passenger vehicle and light truck tires from the People's Republic of China. Commerce concluded that revocation of the order would likely lead to continuation or recurrence of dumping.

"Commerce finds that revocation of the antidumping duty (AD) order on certain passenger vehicle and light truck tires (passenger tires) from the People's Republic of China (China) would be likely to lead to continuation or recurrence of dumping, at the levels indicated in the 'Final Results of Sunset Review' section of this notice."

This determination means the existing antidumping duty order remains in effect, continuing to apply duties to imports of passenger vehicle and light truck tires classified under HS Chapter 40 from China. Sunset reviews are periodic evaluations conducted by Commerce to determine whether revoking an antidumping order would likely result in dumping recurrence. When an expedited review finds continuation or recurrence likely, the order is extended.

U.S. tire importers, distributors, and retailers sourcing passenger and light truck tires from China must maintain compliance with the existing antidumping duty rates. The order covers certain passenger vehicle and light truck tires, and importers must ensure proper classification and duty payment on their entries.

The final results include specific dumping margins, which are listed in the full Federal Register notice. These margins determine the antidumping duty rates applicable to entries from subject Chinese manufacturers and exporters.

What this means for shippers

If you import passenger vehicle or light truck tires from China, the antidumping duty order remains active and enforceable. Verify your product classification under HS Chapter 40 and confirm the applicable duty rates for your suppliers' entries. Review Commerce's final results notice for company-specific dumping margins and adjust landed-cost estimates accordingly. Non-compliance with antidumping duties can result in penalties and entry detention. Check current tariff rates and duties
